Security designed as infrastructure

Security Cameras & Alarm Systems — Designed for the Property, Not Just the Box

A dependable security system is a combination of coverage, recording, detection, network design, protected cabling, power protection, user access and ongoing support. Ready Tech designs residential and commercial systems around how the property actually works — including homes, acreages, farms, detached shops, yards, offices, retail locations and multi-site operations.

UNIVIEW VIDEO

Professional IP surveillance

Ready Tech uses Uniview where its camera, recorder and management options fit the project. Systems can be built around hard-wired PoE cameras, local NVR recording and secure remote viewing rather than depending on a collection of stand-alone Wi-Fi cameras.

  • IP and PoE camera architecture
  • Local NVR recording and retention planning
  • Low-light and high-resolution options by model
  • Human/vehicle analytics on supported models
  • Remote viewing for authorized users
  • Scalable layouts from a few cameras to multi-site systems
HONEYWELL ALARM

Layered intrusion protection

Honeywell security platforms can cover the spaces cameras cannot: doors, windows, interior movement, glass break, panic points and other alarm zones. The result is a detection layer that complements visual surveillance.

  • Door and window contacts
  • Motion and glass-break detection
  • Keypads, touchscreens and user codes
  • Partitioned areas for shops, offices or outbuildings
  • Environmental and life-safety integrations where supported
  • Professional monitoring options where selected
READY TECH WARRANTY

10-Year Hardware + Installation Warranty

Ready Tech stands behind qualifying Ready Tech-supplied security packages with long-term hardware and installation coverage — not only the labour performed on installation day.

  • Hardware coverage on qualifying supplied systems
  • Installation workmanship coverage
  • Installed equipment and warranty history documented
  • Support path through Ready Tech after commissioning

Exact coverage, exclusions and eligibility are governed by the written Ready Tech warranty supplied with the project.

Residential security

Homes, acreages, farms and detached buildings

Rural and residential security often fails at the edges of the property: long driveways, detached garages, shops, barns, gate areas and weak Wi-Fi. We design the camera, network and alarm plan together so those difficult areas are considered before installation starts.

Perimeter & driveway

Coverage can be planned for approaches, vehicles, gates and key exterior zones rather than only the front door.

Detached structures

Shops, barns and garages can be tied into the security design using structured cabling, network extension or appropriately designed wireless links.

Local recording

NVR-based systems can maintain continuous local recording independent of a cloud-only subscription model, with storage sized around camera count, resolution and retention goals.

Alarm layering

Contacts and motion devices provide immediate detection while cameras give visual context before, during and after an event.

Honeywell security

Alarm systems that scale with the building

Honeywell’s commercial security portfolio includes intrusion, integrated security and video/security management capabilities. Ready Tech can use the appropriate alarm architecture for the size and risk profile of the site rather than treating a commercial property like an oversized house.

Intrusion

Protect doors, windows, interior spaces and restricted zones with appropriately selected sensors and alarm logic.

Access & integration

For larger sites, security can be planned alongside access control, video and building operations where compatible platforms and project scope support it.

Remote management

Give the right people the right level of access without sharing one master credential across an entire organization.

Monitoring workflows

Define who is notified, when escalation occurs and whether professional monitoring is included in the selected service.

Why installation quality matters

The camera is only one part of reliability.

A premium camera on poor cabling, an overloaded network, exposed connectors or unprotected power can still produce a poor security system. Ready Tech treats security as installed infrastructure.

Protected cablingExterior cable and terminations are routed and protected for the environment instead of being left as an afterthought.
Power continuityRecorder, network and critical security equipment can be placed on appropriately sized UPS protection to reduce outages and abrupt shutdowns.
Network securityStrong credentials, firmware maintenance, segmented networks and controlled remote access reduce avoidable exposure.

System design comparison

Hard-wired professional system vs. stand-alone Wi-Fi cameras

ConsiderationProfessional PoE / NVR designTypical stand-alone Wi-Fi approach
RecordingContinuous local recording can be designed around retention requirements.Often event-based or tied to individual device/cloud plans.
ConnectivityCamera data travels over structured Ethernet/PoE to the network and recorder. Each camera depends heavily on Wi-Fi signal quality at its mounting location.
PowerPoE can centralize camera power and make UPS protection practical.Power is usually distributed device-by-device.
ExpansionNVR, switching and storage can be sized for future cameras.Expansion can create more individual devices, subscriptions and Wi-Fi load.
Commercial useBetter suited to defined retention, multiple users and larger camera counts.Useful for simple applications but may become difficult to manage at scale.

Hikvision systems in Canada

Have an existing Hikvision system? You do not need to panic — but it is reasonable to plan.

On June 27, 2025, the Government of Canada ordered Hikvision Canada Inc. to wind up its Canadian business and cease operations following a national-security review under the Investment Canada Act. The government later clarified that the review did not extend to existing Hikvision products already owned and operated by Canadians.

This was not a consumer product recall. Existing equipment was not ordered removed from Canadian homes or businesses by that decision. The practical issue for owners is long-term planning around support, lifecycle, cybersecurity, replacement parts and future expansion.

WARRANTY REALITY

Manufacturer warranty and installer warranty are not the same thing.

Uniview coverage depends on the specific product and the authorized Canadian supply program. Current published Canadian distributor terms vary by category. Ready Tech’s 10-year warranty is the customer-facing coverage offered on qualifying Ready Tech-supplied systems under Ready Tech’s written warranty terms.

NO GUESSWORK

We document what you are actually buying.

Your quote and project record can identify camera models, recorder, storage, alarm components, network hardware, warranty context and installation scope so future service does not start with somebody guessing what was installed.

Security FAQ

Questions customers should ask before choosing a system

Do I need an NVR if I can view cameras from my phone?

Remote viewing and recording are different functions. An NVR can provide centralized local recording and retention while the phone app is simply a way to securely view or manage the system.

Are wired cameras better than Wi-Fi cameras?

For permanent security coverage, wired PoE cameras are often preferred because network connectivity and power are delivered over structured cabling. Wi-Fi still has valid uses, particularly where cabling is impractical, but it should be designed rather than assumed.

Can cameras work if the internet goes down?

A properly designed local camera/NVR system can continue recording on the local network during an internet outage, although remote viewing and cloud-dependent services may be unavailable until connectivity returns.

What happens if power fails?

Without backup power, recorders, switches, routers and alarm equipment may shut down. Ready Tech can include appropriately sized UPS protection for critical security and network equipment.

Can you replace an existing Hikvision system?

Yes. We can assess the installed cabling, cameras, recorder and network, determine what can be reused safely, and build either a staged migration or complete replacement plan.

Does Ready Tech warranty the installation?

Ready Tech offers a 10-year hardware and installation warranty on qualifying Ready Tech-supplied systems, subject to the written warranty terms for the project.
